I am wheat intolerant and would like to know what kind of healthy breakfast I should be having. I have not much to lose but its seems like it is a huge amount. I have scrambled eggs, grapefruit that sort of thing but get bored. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks
Hi,
If you are intolerant to wheat, porridge is a healthy and filling breakfast option, although I admit it is not so appealing when the weather is hot! Toast can be replaced with oat cakes or rice cakes with whatever topping you would normally have and smoothies can be made more nutritious and filling by adding nuts and seeds as you blend them.
Many supermarkets and health food shops now sell wheat free cereals or muesli. Or you can make your own, which is much cheaper and you can make it to your exact taste requirements. Base your own muesli on about 50% oats and add some other on-wheat flakes (such as millet) if you want, for a different texture. Then add some seeds, such as sunflower and pumpkin, a few nuts and maybe some spices that you like (for example, cinnamon or nutmeg). Enter all the ingredients in the My Meals/Recipes section to find out the calorie content and adjust if necessary! Mix with milk or plain yogurt and top with fresh fruit. Enjoy!
