Hi, I have been reading everywhere that egg whites were full of protein and that it was recommended to eat it in the morning. I would like to know whether it matters if i boiled it or poach it or should I eat it raw? Thanks
Hi,
You are right that egg white is a very good source of low-cost, high quality protein. It is also rich in many nutrients and contains a negligible amount of fat and no dietary cholesterol. You can eat egg whites whichever way you prefer and they remain a good source of protein.
The benefit of eating any form of protein for breakfast, or at any meal for that matter, is that it is digested slowly. This slows down the digestion and absorption of the entire meal and generally keeps you feeling fuller for longer. It also means that your blood sugar is kept more stable, which is important in the morning as our blood sugar tends to be at its lowest level at this time of day. So, having some protein with breakfast helps avoid blood sugar highs and lows and is a good way to start the day!
