Tell us about your progress. How long did it take to lose the weight?

I started my journey in September 2025 at 104.9kg (16st 7lb), which was the heaviest I'd ever been. Since then, I've lost 11.2kg (1st 11lb), bringing me down to 93.7kg (14st 10lb). It took me around nine months to achieve that.

What prompted your decision to lose weight?

The birth of my son, Nolan, in March 2025 was the biggest motivator. I wanted to be healthier, fitter and more active so I could keep up with him as he grows up and be the best dad I can be.

How did you hear about Nutracheck?

I first heard about Nutracheck through MAN v FAT. I was looking for a simple way to track what I was eating, and Nutracheck made calorie counting straightforward and easy to stick to.

Has your weight stayed fairly consistent over the years, or have you always had to manage it?

My weight has gradually crept up over the years. I wouldn't say I've constantly managed it, which is probably part of how I ended up at my heaviest. I'd tried various diets and approaches in the past, and while some worked in the short term, they never really became lasting lifestyle changes. Looking back, I don't think I had the same motivation that I do now, and I certainly didn't have the network around me that I've found through MAN V FAT. Having a clear reason for wanting to lose weight, combined with the accountability and encouragement from others on the same journey, has made all the difference.

Have you experienced any health improvements?

Definitely. My fitness has improved significantly through playing football with MAN v FAT, and day-to-day activities feel easier than they used to. I generally have more energy and feel more capable physically than I did when I started.

How easy was it to fit the changes you made into your lifestyle?

Much easier than I expected. I've made some significant changes, such as eating proper portions, cooking more meals at home, and making sure I get my 5-a-day most days. However, I haven't been overly strict with my diet. One of the things I like most about Nutracheck is that it allows me to enjoy the foods I like while still making progress towards my goals. Rather than feeling like I'm on a diet, it feels like I've made sustainable changes that I can stick to long term.

What was the most difficult thing about your weight loss journey?

The biggest challenge has been staying consistent when progress slows down or life gets busy. Weight loss isn't a straight line, and there have been weeks where the scales didn't move the way I wanted them to. Learning not to let those moments knock me off track has been important.

How do you feel now compared to before?

I feel fitter, healthier and more confident. More importantly, I feel like I'm setting a better example for my son and giving myself a better chance of being able to keep up with him as he grows.

Any notable milestones to report?

Losing over a stone and a half is a milestone I'm really proud of. Joining MAN v FAT football and becoming more active has also been a huge achievement for me, especially as exercise is now something I genuinely enjoy rather than something I feel I have to do.

What 3 tips would you give to anyone who has weight to lose?

  1. Find a reason that matters to you. For me, it was my son. Having a strong motivation helps you keep going when things get difficult.
  2. Track honestly. It's much easier to make good decisions when you know exactly what you're eating. It's also much easier to stay on track when you know you can still fit in the occasional cheeky treat.
  3. It's not a race. Progress doesn't have to be fast or linear. There will be good weeks and bad weeks. Find the rhythm that works for you and stick with it.
